JorgeViegas,presidentoftheFIM,statedthathewantedtosetanexampleforthemotorcycleindustrybydemonstratingthatracingcanbefunwhileusingsustainablefuels.

MotoGPdeclareditsgoaltobeginusing100%sustainablefuelforitsmotorcyclesby2027inordertostayoncoursewiththis.Sincethen,MotoGPhasimplementedanumberofprogrammestoreduceitscarbonfootprintandincreasepublicawarenessofclimatechange.

Findinganddevelopingmotorcyclefuelsthataremoreenvironmentallyfriendlyhastakenalotofwork.MotoGPhasalsomadeeffortsto"greenup"thecompetitionsthathavebeencontested.

Inanefforttoreducetheamountofwastegeneratedonracingweekends,1,500unnecessarytyreswereheldfrombeingmanufactured.Thisdecreaseinmanufacturingandtransitlowersthecarbonemissionsofthelogisticssector.

SustainabilityhasalsobeenatopgoalforMotoGPraceways,someofwhicharesharedwithFormula1.VenueslikeSilverstoneandCatalunyahaveimplementedregulations,suchasusingonlyrenewableenergyduringeventsandconstructingelectricchargingstationstopromotetheuseofelectricvehicles.

Thesportisworkingoncreatingandtesting"sustainablenon-fossildrop-infuels"madefromwasteproductsandrenewableenergysources.By2024,itispredictedthat40%ofMotoGPfuelwillbenon-fossil,with100%non-fossilfuelbeingthetargetby2027.

MotoGPhaspromisedtocollaboratewithmanufacturerstomakethissustainablefuelcompatiblewithtraditionalinternalcombustionengines.TheseprogrammeshighlightMotoGP'scommitmenttoinnovationanditshonestparticipationintheglobalmovementtowardsamoreenvironmentallyresponsiblefuture.

Theeffortsmadetoprogresstowardsagreenerfuturedidnotstopthere,though.Intermsoftheracingonthetrack,theFIMEnelMotoEWorldCup,thefirstallelectricmotorcyclechampionship,wasintroducedin2019.Energica,abusinessdevotedsolelytotheelectricmotorbikemarket,wasinitiallytheonlycompanytoproduceenginesinthisclass.

However,in2023,Ducatijoinedthisinitiativebytakingonthepositionofofficialsupplier.PreparationsstartedafterDucatiTestRiderMichelePirrowascapturedlappingtheMisanoWorldCircuitMarcoSimoncelliontheirnewelectricvehicle.TheItalianfactorywillbethefirstmajorbrandinthemotorcycleindustrytoparticipateintheall-electricWorldCup.

ItisagreatthingseeingMotorsportsstillthrivingeventhoughemissionnormsandcarbon-neutralrulesarebeingputinplace.Workingaroundtherulesletstheracersstillgetthemostoutoftheirbikesandletsusfansenjoyit.

Notonlythat,italsoreducestheimpactithadontheenvironmentalandecologicalfactor,makingithealthierforMotherEarth.WiththeMotoEcategorycomingintoplace,DornaSportshavetakenanevenbiggerstepinbeingsustainable.
