In a sea of electric commuters, Verge Motorcycles is charting a course on the road untaken. The Finnish brand has its eyes set on the premium electric motorcycle segment, and its flagship offering - the Verge TS - is a fitting example of this. For 2023, though, the bikemaker has taken the ‘premium’ factor up a notch, by revealing a limited edition designed by Formula One legend Mika Häkkinen. The two-time world champion has infused some F1 flavor into the EV, and only 100 examples are destined to go on sale.

Like most cases, the notable aspect of the special edition is its design. The motorcycle dons a bespoke dark gray and silver finish from head to toe, complete with a ceramic coat for protection against scratches. This dual-tone flavor also trickles to the perch, thanks to dapple and smooth leather textures. Our favorite bit, however, is the set of carbon fiber battery covers on the sides, said to be a link between the EV and Mika's McLaren F1 racer. All of it comes to a close via blacked-out suspension at both ends as well as a signature plate hand-signed by the two-time F1 champ.

Under its skin, the Signature Edition is essentially a Verge TS Pro electric motorcycle. So it employs Verge's unique hub-less motor that gushes out 102kW (136 horsepower) and a whopping 737 pound-feet. It can propel this 540-pound behemoth to 60mph in just 3.5 seconds, followed by a 120mph top speed. In the meantime, the battery promises 217 miles of range and comes loaded with fast charging to help you juice up in just 35 minutes. These are claimed figures, however, so we’ll have to wait and see how the real-world performance/range varies.

Performance aside, the motorcycle rolls on 17-inch wheels, shod with Pirelli Rosso rubber. This is paired with Brembo M4.32 calipers up top and Verge's own caliper outback. Both feature Galfer disc brakes, though. Couple this with the Ohlins upside-down forks and monoshock, and the TS should be fun in the twisties. The 150 mm of ground clearance and 780 mm saddle height seem promising too.

Verge has priced the TS Pro Signature Edition at $87,000. Yes, that's a lot of money, but, as mentioned above, Verge's target audience is the ‘premium’ customer, which justifies it somewhat. Anyway, if this is in your ballpark, you can head to the company website and book your limited-edition EV. There's no option to check it out in the flesh, though, as Verge is yet to open a dealership in America.
